Can be Montgomery in some records Alexander Henry Blow Montgomerie was born in Chelsea (Chelsea Q?-1888 1A:371), baptised St Saviours, Chelsea on October 7th 1888, son of Alexander Blow and Sophia Charlotte MONTGOMERIE (née SPICE). He is recorded as born in Wishaw, Lanarkshire according to "Soldiers Died" but this may well be an error as his brother was Scottish born. His father was a mining engineer but little has been found about him either. At time of Alexander (Jun) baptism they lived at 92 Walton Street, Chelsea. 1891 census...Aged 2, he was at 46 Lintaine Grove, Fulham with his widowed mother Sophia Montgomery [32] born Lambeth and brother James [3] born Scotland. 1901 census...Aged 12, he was at Walton Street, Kensington with his widowed mother and brother James. Cannot find his father's death. CWGC have the family address as 55 Allestree Road, Fulham. 1911 census...Aged 23, he may be the footman at Byrkley Lodge, Newchurch, Burton on Trent. It may well be that his employment was transferred to Earl Cadogan at Culford. Nowhere except the Suffolk Roll of Honour has his name connected with Culford. He enlisted in Ingham. Died at 10 Casualty Clearing Station, Remy Sidings. Named after the farm at the north end of the Lijssenthoek Cemetery the siding enabled
direct access by train to the medical facilities in the area. As his service records have not been found there is no way of telling where or when exactly he was wounded.
